Texas guard advances career through Moody College master’s program

In her senior year, University of Texas at Austin guard Shay Holle played in all 38 Longhorn women’s basketball games. She scored double figures in 13, recorded five steals for Texas in their road to victory against Baylor and had a career-high of 22 points on 10-12 from the field against Oklahoma. But of all the games she’s played, Holle said one of her most prized wins is her degree from UT.

Five Years Strong, UT’s Online Master's Programs Shape the Next Generation in Computer and Data Science

In 2019, UT Austin set out to create online pathways to its high-caliber programs by launching the online Master’s of Computer Science. The university has expanded its offerings to include online programs in data science and artificial intelligence. These programs serve more than 3,500 students and account for nearly one-third of the university's graduate population.

Graduate students Kyle Franson at The University of Texas at Austin and William Balmer at Johns Hopkins University — had to race against the clock to capture an image of AF Lep b, a relatively young gas giant. That’s because it’s moving closer to its host star in its orbit. The closer it gets, the harder it will be to observe.

Scientists Closing in on Answers About ‘Lost’ Prehistoric Cats of Natural Bridge Caverns

Last January, a team of cavers led by a paleontologist from UT Austin rappelled into two deep chambers at Natural Bridge Caverns to retrieve rare fossil finds: the bones of two small prehistoric cats. After recovering these small cat fossils, Jackson School of Geosciences doctoral student John Moretti is closing in on answers.
